Energy rental is a live market — the rate moves with how much TRX is staked for Energy versus how much Energy is being rented at any given moment.

If an address doesn't have enough Energy, TRON burns TRX directly from its balance to cover a smart contract call, at a fixed network rate (currently 100 sun per unit of Energy). Renting Energy instead is almost always cheaper.
